Two new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe Muskoka; new infections below 100 in Ontario

Young people continue to make up the bulk of new infections

Two new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit since the last update on Friday, in which there were no new cases. The latest infections involve men, ages 18-39. One is from Innisfil and the other is from Essa. Both cases are under investigation as to how the two were infected.

There have been 669 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe Muskoka and 623 recoveries. Two patients with the virus are hospitalized.

Province-wide, there were 99 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and no new deaths.

More than 25,000 tests were processed in the past 24 hours. There are 15,000 tests which remain under investigation.

Young people continue to be infected at a higher rate, with 65 per cent of Monday’s new cases in Ontario found in people aged 39 or younger.
