Two people were injured after being slashed with what Barrie Police said was a machete-style knife as officers responded to multiple disturbances outside a Dunlop Street East establishment around 2:45 Sunday morning.
"One incident in particular resulted in a male victim trying to take control of a person who was armed with a crowbar when a second suspect came up quickly from behind and slashed him in the back with what has been described as a machete style knife," police stated in a news release on Thursday. "The male with the machete, who is believed to have arrived in the area in a light-coloured Honda Odyssey, then began to swing violently at others in the crowd and struck a second male on his right forearm."
Police say the suspects fled on foot through Meridian Place towards Kempenfelt Bay.
Both victims suffered significant lacerations and were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police are trying to identify two male suspects who are described as:
Suspect 1: Male brown, 17-20 years, 5’6”-5’8” 150lbs., wearing a close-fitting cloth upon his head, possibly with short dreadlocks beneath, a dark colored t-shirt with a large distinctive design on the back and dark pants. He was seen in the company of two males and a female just prior to the incident.
Suspect 2: Male, dark brown complexion, in his 40’s, 5’6” heavy set, approximately 200lbs., wearing a dark hoody with a light shirt under and dark pants.
