You have their pencils, you have their books, but do you have their immunizations up to date?
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reminding parents and guardians to have their children’s vaccinations updated, preferably before classes start. Public Health Nurse Sarah Wild says if you can’t get them in time for school, call the health unit to set something up.
Parents can also look up their children’s health records online. When vaccines are administered Wild says its best to update those records yourself online because sometimes Doctors’ office files don’t update automatically with the health units. If there’s a case where a child needs an exemption, Wild says the best course of action is to speak to a public health nurse at the unit.
Information of records can be found at ww.simcoemuskokahealth.org/immsonline. If you think you have missed any of your child’s vaccinations or need more information, call Health Connection at 721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to find out what you need to do to catch up on missed vaccinations.
