Barrie police doing speed enforcement in the Anne Street North and Livingstone Street West area last Thursday afternoon reeled in a suspended driver.

Police say the vehicle was spotted travelling above the posted 40 km/h zone and was stopped.

In addition to speeding, the motorist was found to be driving while under suspension and placed under arrest.

"Further investigation revealed that the driver had over a dozen previous convictions for driving while under suspension, and under the authority of the Highway Traffic Act, and to prevent him from continuing to drive, the motor vehicle he was operating was towed," police said in a news release.

Police added the vehicle will remain impounded until February 28, 2025, when the driver is required to attend the provincial offences court in Barrie.
