Vehicle Theft Suspect Gives Barrie And South Simcoe Police Run For Their Money

One man is facing a list of charges after a joint effort from Barrie and South Simcoe Police officers.
It started in Innisfil just before 1:00 Tuesday morning; police tried to pull over what was believed to be a drunk driver, but say it failed to stop twice. It was determined the vehicle in question was reported stolen. It continued north into Barrie, so officers with the South Simcoe Police called their northern counterparts to assist.
Both police services tried to stop the vehicle, one cruiser was even struck in the process. Eventually Mother Nature stepped in; the vehicle got stuck in the snow in a parking lot on Grove Street. The driver allegedly fled on food, at least until the K9 unit caught up to him.
A 27-year-old man faces charges including Possession of Stolen Property, Dangerous Driving, and Flight from Police.
