Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two 18-year-old males following an investigation into incidents where rocks were thrown at moving vehicles in Markham.
Police say rocks were thrown at moving vehicles between September 20, 2024 and November 30, 2024.
"One of these incidents resulted in a serious collision, in which two individuals suffered life-threatening injuries," according to a police news release.
In another incident, investigators say a rock was thrown at the windshield of an occupied bus travelling on Highway 48, north of Major Mackenzie Drive.
No injuries were reported.
"Similar incidents were also reported within York Regional Police (YRP) jurisdiction," OPP stated in the news release.
A man from Markham and another from Richmond Hill were arrested on Wednesday. They have been charged with aggravated assault, mischief endangering life and mischief damage to property.
Investigators did not identify the suspects because they were both youths at the time of the alleged offences.
Both suspects were released and have future court dates.
