An early-morning traffic stop in Collingwood led to the arrest and charge of a Wasaga Beach resident for impaired driving Thursday.
Just after 6:30 a.m., a Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP officer initiated a traffic stop with a driver at First Street and Oak Street.
Upon investigation, the officer found the driver to be impaired and found liquor in the car in an open container, as well as cannabis readily available.
The 42-year-old man from Wasaga Beach was also unable to provide a permit or insurance for the vehicle. He was handed eight charges, five related to operating under the influence.
He will appear in court in September.
The OPP say the focus from officers going into and through the Civic Holiday weekend will be driving behaviours that can contribute to serious collisions and fatalities.
