Wasaga Beach resident robbed by man claiming to be a police officer

OPP at Wasaga Beach investigating after an elderly man said he was robbed by someone purporting to be a police officer.

The man told police he was leaving the TD Bank on Stonebridge Blvd. Monday afternoon when a man approached identifying himself as a police officer.

When he asked to see the man's wallet, the victim complied. The suspect took the cash, then shoved the man to the ground and fled north along Main Street on an e-bike.

The victim suffered minor injuries; a few good Samaritans rushed to his aid.

The suspect is described as male, white, and possibly wearing a white or silver/chrome helmet. The electronic bike is described as red/burgundy and white.
