Wasaga Beach senior charged with impaired driving

A report on Christmas Eve night of a car driving in the oncoming lane of traffic and striking snow banks on River Road West in Wasaga Beach prompted a quick response from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

The motorist, a 78-year-old Wasaga Beach woman, was transported to the detatchment for additional testing and then charged with impaired driving.

The accused has been released and will appear in court at a later date.

Her driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
