Weapons charges laid after police pull vehicle over in Orillia

35-year-old man also had a prohibited license, says police

An Orillia man is facing weapons charges and more after a traffic stop on Monday evening.

Orillia OPP say it was a simple traffic violation that led them to pull a vehicle over on West Street around 6 p.m., but after speaking with the driver, police say they discovered his license had been suspended.

The 35-year-old man behind the wheel was placed under arrest, and police subsequently searched his vehicle. That’s when they say two prohibited weapons were discovered and seized.

The suspect is facing charges of driving while prohibited, dangerous weapons possession, and failure to comply with probation.
