Weapons Charges Laid Following Innisfil Street Fight

Pair Accused of Having a Knife and Replica Gun

A pair from Innisfil is facing a few charges after police claim they found some illicit weapons.

Police were called out to a street fight reported in the area of Mary Lou St. and Jans Blvd. in Innisfil around 6:30 Sunday night, but arrived to find the group had already fled. A brief search of the area turned up two people however, a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman.

Police say the man was found to be carrying a knife, which lead to a Dangerous Weapons Possession charge, along with one of violating his probation. The woman is said to have a replica BB gun in her backpack, and is facing a Dangerous Weapons Possession charge as well.

A replica firearm next to a real one. Can you spot the difference? (Real one is on the right)

“South Simcoe Police Service is reminding the public about the dangers of replica firearms which can be indistinguishable from real guns. Police will treat replica firearms as real until they can prove otherwise which could have tragic consequences. And like this case, fake guns can bring very real criminal charges.”
