Weapons, drugs seized by Barrie police

Police say they seized crystal meth, cocaine, heroin and prescription medication

Two men face a combined total of 32 charges after Barrie police seized weapons and drugs during a traffic stop.

Police say they spotted a pickup truck leaving a Donald Street motel around 9:50 p.m. on Monday and as it travelled southbound on Anne Street it was determined the validation on the truck had expired.

The vehicle pulled into a gas station where officers conducted the traffic stop.

As they were speaking with the driver, police caught a strong whiff of marijuana.

An 18-year-old from Barrie and a 24-year-old from Innisfil were taken into custody. During the investigation, police allege the pair were found to be in possession of two loaded guns as well as a number of drugs, prescription medication and Canadian currency. The suspects were transported to the police station where the investigation continued.

According to police, they seized cocaine, crystal meth, heroin and prescription drugs which they allege were destined to be trafficked on the streets. As well, officers also recovered a pair of brass knuckles.

The men were to appear for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
