It has been a few years since Warner Bros. announced their prequel to Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in 2018 but we finally have a release date and some news about who will be filling the (probably edible) shoes of the titular chocolatier.
While neither has been officially offered the role quite yet, Tom Holland and Timothee Chalamet are both reportedly in consideration to help bring the young Willy Wonka to life.
Tom Holland has quickly become a household name thanks to his ongoing role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although there are some serious acting beats in films such as Avenger: Infinity War, Holland has also appeared in more challenging dramas such as The Devil All The Time and will reunite with the Russo Brothers for Cherry.
Timothee Chalamet on the other hand has been noticeably absent in 2020 due to a wave of delays thanks to filming restrictions. The last time we saw this Oscar-nominated actor was all the way back in 2019 in films like Pretty Women and Netflix's The King. However, with all the delayed films he is starring in set to finally release this year, such as Dune and The French Connection, 2020 will have no shortage of Chalamet.
Between Holland and Chalamet, Wonka looks to be in good hands, but we will have to wait some time until we can get our eyes on it. Wonka is still in pre-production and isn't set to release until March 17th, 2023.
