
Police are investigating after a woman was assaulted by an unknown man while walking on the sidewalk in a quiet Barrie neighbourhood Tuesday night.
The incident happened just before 9:30 p.m. on Mayfair Drive, near Ardagh Road. According to Barrie Police, the woman was approached and assaulted by a stranger as they passed each other. She sustained a laceration and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s, about six feet tall. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, dark shoes, and a blue face covering at the time of the assault.

Multiple units were called to the scene, including the Tactical Support Unit, Canine Unit, Forensic Investigations, and front-line patrol officers. The area was canvassed, and police are appealing to residents for security camera footage to help identify the suspect.
