Suspect sought after woman attacked at Barrie Community Sports Complex

Provincial police are searching for a suspect who they allege attacked a woman at the Barrie Community Sports Complex in Springwater Township, located at Highway 26 and Nursery Road.

Police say that around 10:30 Monday night, the woman was walking her two dogs on a trail located off the north side of the parking lot when she was grabbed by the suspect and taken to the ground.

"The victim was able to fight off the attacker and escape with minor injuries before calling 911," Huronia West OPP said in a news release.

The suspect is described as:

·      White male.

·      Middle aged.

·      Ginger beard.

·      Heavy set/well built.

·      Wearing black t-shirt.

·      Tattoo on his forearm (unknown which arm)

Police are seeking the public's assistance and requesting that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has video or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation to contact 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477 or www.stopcrimehere.ca.
