Woman charged with impaired after vehicle slams into pole on Lakeshore Drive

No injuries to the driver
Barrie Police

A woman driving a van had a run-in with a pole on Lakeshore Drive in Barrie.

Around midnight on Thursday, officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Victoria Street. Police say a northbound van struck a light post and came to a stop on top of a concrete median, about 50 metres north of where the post had been struck.

The driver was not injured. The 36-year-old woman was taken back to the police station where she was charged with impaired driving.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Barrie on Jan. 25.

Temporary repairs were made to the downed traffic light pole by staff from the City of Barrie once police completed the on-scene collision investigation.
