Something spooky, steampunk, vintage, and peculiar is happening on Sunday.
Barrie's very own Oddity Market is coming to Lionsgate Banquet Hall at 386 Blake Street, and it's going to be a one-of-a-kind event, according to the organizers.
Jeff Manning and April Rhynold, noticed a gap in the market for something a little more unusual, so they decided to create their own.
"The Oddity Market itself is a product of not having something similar to it in the area. April is a bone artist and she does some stuff with taxidermy and nothing quite fit that market."
The event will bring together unique artists and will feature at least 25 vendors, showcasing specialties like crystal vendors, mediums, and even a travelling oddity museum. Tagged along will also be live music, a magician, a tattoo artist, and Manning even says a stunt performer named 'Red the Clown'.
"He's stapled stuff to himself and various other things. Glass walking, sword swallowing, that kind of thing."
And if you're feeling daring, Manning says there's a tattoo artist offering flash tattoos that will be available all day.
"The [tattoo] artist is going to be revealing them the day of, but very unique tattoos at a very affordable, price."
Things kick off at 10 a.m. and go till 6 p.m. with a $5 admission fee at the door, but kids get in for free.
Manning says it's a chance to see things you won't find at your average market and have a great time with family and friends.
"April and I have attended a number of events, just regular markets with various different vendors at it, but nothing really quite fits what we kind of do."
