Wrong-way driver on HWY 11 in Muskoka nabbed for impaired

'Concerned members of the public all reported the vehicle nearly caused multiple head-on collisions, including one with police'

Bracebridge OPP arrested and charged a 52-year-old Orillia man for a number of charges after driving the wrong way on Highway 11.

On Friday around 7:30 p.m., police received calls of a pick-up truck driving the incorrect way near Stephenson Road 1.

"Concerned members of the public all reported the vehicle nearly caused multiple head-on collisions, including one with police," OPP stated in a release.

Officers were able to stop the driver and say there were no injuries from the ordeal.

The accused faces the following:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Dangerous operation
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
  • Mischief
  • Driving the wrong way-divided highway
  • Fail to stop for police

He is scheduled to appear in Bracebridge court on April 25.
