The City of Barrie is extending this year’s curbside yard waste collection into early December. This additional collection gives residents a chance to dispose of leaves and other yard waste materials before winter arrives.
The yard waste schedule is collection every other week (alternating with your garbage collection week), from April to November. One additional yard waste collection will be provided to properties in both Area B (the week of December 1) and Area A (the week of December 8).
Acceptable yard waste containers include paper leaf and yard waste bags, green bins, or garbage cans up to 120 L (must have exterior handles). To aid the collector in identifying yard waste if it’s in a garbage can or old green bin, please affix a yard waste sticker to the garbage can or green bin. Stickers are available for free at Service Barrie (first floor of City Hall), the landfill, Allandale Recreation Centre, East Bayfield Community Centre, and Peggy Hill Team Community Centre.
Yard waste collection reminders:
- Acceptable yard waste includes leaves and brush, garden waste, grass clippings, sod (excluding soil), and tree trimmings.
- Roll the tops of the yard waste bags closed and place the bags as close together as possible at the curb to help keep them dry.
- Place yard waste materials curbside by 7 a.m. toensure collection.
