The YMCA of Simcoe Muskoka offering a heartfelt thanks to the more than 1700 people who took part in ‘Move to Give’ on April 6.
The event, at the eight YMCAs in Simcoe County and Muskoka (April 6) and the 76 YMCA child care centres and school age programs on (March 6), raised more than $200,000. The goal was $100,000.
From running 5km to massive indoor cycling sessions, swimming challenges, fire truck pulls and more – participants challenged themselves physically while at the same time giving back to their community.
“On behalf of everyone who benefits from a strong and vibrant YMCA, we would like to thank our community, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff for making this year’s Move to Give a huge success,” said Brian Shelley, Vice President, Philanthropy, Brand and Community Development, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “Witnessing how our community came together to support us on April 6th was truly inspiring, and we are humbled by the generosity and support we received.”
Over the past five years Move to Give has raised over $500,000 and brought together thousands of people across Simcoe/Muskoka – all working towards achieving the same goal – building healthier communities. Move to Give not only raises funds to provide members in need with over one million dollars in financial assistance each year, it also raises awareness about the YMCA’s programs, services, and impact on the community, while inspiring healthy, active living.
