A new feature rolling onto Instagram called "Your Activity" will allow users to more easily delete old posts, comments, and other activities.
Before the update, the only way to delete old interactions was to manually search through all your old activities by trying to remember what pictures you might have left a liked or comment on. Now, there is a specific function that lets you see every post you've ever visited, along with other things like time spent on the app, search history, links you've clicked, and username changes (among other account-level changes).
This feature comes alongside Instagram's pledge to make the platform safer for teens by introducing a host of new features and parental controls. A "Take a Break" feature is also coming with this update which notifies users who have been scrolling for a long period of time and also gives them expert-backed tips to help them "reflect and reset".
While parental controls aren't coming until March, they promise to give parents more tools to set limits on the app for their kids. It will also give the option to notify parents if their child reports someone on the app, a good step towards quelling bullying on the social media site.
The final piece of the update will be an expansion of something Instagram has already implemented in the past. Instagram has already stopped adults from Direct Messaging any teen who doesn't follow them, however, they are also planning on extending this ban to other features. When the update goes live, Adults won't be able to tag, mention, or include any content of a teen who doesn't follow them.

While many believe social media apps like Instagram should just be absent in their child's lives, "Your Activity" and all the other new features are definitely a step in the right direction for those looking to take less of a "cold turkey" approach.
