Over $70,000 raised as community walks for Youth Haven's Coldest Night of the Year

Youth Haven's Coldest Night of the Year walk

A final tally is still being completed, but Youth Haven's Coldest Night of the Year walk raised over $70,000.

The event took place Saturday and saw at least 300 people brave the cold to walk two or five kilometres through the downtown, starting at Barrie City Hall.

Funds from the walk go back into programs and services provided by Youth Haven at its emergency shelter, transitional home, and for outreach care.

This was the 10th annual Coldest Night of the Year, and in that time, participants in Barrie have raised $525,000 for Youth Haven, which provides services to youth ages 16 to 24.

Coldest Night of the Year takes place in more than 150 cities and towns across Canada, and sheds light on those experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.
