A Richmond Hill man is facing a stack of charges after a wild attempt to outrun police in York Region.
Around 10:30 a.m. on July 4, police say officers spotted a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 404 near Bloomington Road.
The York Regional Police (YRP) Air Support Unit jumped in, tracking the rider from the sky as he pulled up to a gas station on Elgin Mills Road, where police say the rider stole a quantity of gas and fled the scene before officers arrived.
From there, the motorcyclist sped south on Hwy 404, then westbound on Highway 407.
"The motorcyclist was observed lane splitting, weaving through traffic and reaching speeds in excess of 200 km/h," YRP said in a news release.
The chase ended in Mississauga, when police say the rider attempted to avoid officers by entering the underground garage of a building with the help of an accomplice. Moments later, he hopped into a rideshare.
"Police located the motorcycle inside the building, discovering it had been fitted with a counterfeit licence plate," according to the news release.

Officers caught up to the suspect when the rideshare pulled up to his residence.
A 37-year-old has been charged with stunt driving, dangerous operation, theft under $5,000, using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, speeding, and driving without insurance.
