
The field has been set for the Oct. 26 municipal election in Barrie.
The deadline to file papers was 2 p.m. on Friday.
Alex Nuttall is seeking a second four-year term as mayor and is being challenged by Tanya Saari, Kay Sayer and Russell Tighe.
In the 10 Wards, no one was acclaimed.
Ward 1 is wide open as Coun. Clare Riepma is not seeking another term, leaving the field to five challengers, including Stefano Agostino, Shaughna Ainsworth, Brent Bowser, Christian Cadera, Hafiz Rahman, and Pauline Stevenson.
In Ward 2, incumbent Craig Nixon is being challenged by Frank Casera, Shanicka Edwards, Ajmal Noushahi, and Tracy Strohm.
As a result of boundary changes, current Ward 4 councillor Amy Courser is running in Ward 3 in the 2026 election and is challenged by Ben Hughes, Bryan Jones and Ryan Rijo.
Ann-Marie Kungl, who is currently the Ward 3 councillor, is not seeking re-election.
With no incumbent in the new Ward 4, Iradat Ahmad, Matthew Corbett, Lori Galeazza, Patrick Harriott-Stewart, and Arif Khan are seeking the seat.

In Ward 5, incumbent Robert Thomson, who is also Deputy Mayor, is being challeged by Duarte Da Silva.
Incumbent Nigussie Nigussie in Ward 6 is up against Nader Nasar George.
In Ward 7, incumbent Gary Harvey is squaring off against Samina Alim and Michael Lewis.
Amanda Fellows is challenging Ward 8 incumbent Jim Harris.
Four people are in the Ward 9 race, including Norm Cotsello, incumbent Sergio Morales, Asmar Naveed, and Dave Weingarten.
Ward 10 is a two-person race between incumbent Bryn Hamilton and Georgy Kapustin.

Elsewhere in the region, a new mayor is a sure thing in Orillia, as Don McIsaac is not seeking a second term.
Steve Clarke, a former Orillia mayor between 2014 and 2022, is in the running against Ward 1 councillor Whitney Smith.
In Simcoe County's 16 municipalities, incumbents Doug Rawson and Ted Walker have been acclaimed mayor in Penetanguishene and Tay Township respectively.
Ramara Township is wide open as Basil Clarke is not seeking the mayor's chair again.
Incumbent mayors are seeking new terms in the other county municipalities, including Innisfil, Essa, Oro-Medonte and Springwater.
The list of candidates is expected to receive certification from the clerk’s office in each municipality on Monday.
