Two Barrie organizations supporting vulnerable residents will benefit from a nationwide fundraising campaign launched by the RONA Foundation.
The foundation's annual Home Sweet Home campaign runs from Aug. 31 to Oct. 12, with RONA+ and RONA stores across Canada collecting donations for nearly 150 local non-profit organizations.
In Barrie, funds raised at participating stores will support LOFT Community Services and the Women & Children's Shelter of Barrie.
RONA+ Barrie has selected LOFT as its beneficiary, while RONA+ Barrie South will raise funds for the Women's & Children's Shelter.
The campaign supports organizations that provide assistance to victims of domestic violence, low-income families, individuals with special needs and people facing mental health challenges.
Since launching in 2023, the Home Sweet Home campaign has donated nearly $2 million to hundreds of non-profit organizations across Canada. This year, the RONA Foundation hopes to raise $500,000 through customer donations and employee engagement efforts.
"Home Sweet Home is much more than a fundraising campaign. It's an opportunity for our teams, all across Canada, to come together in support of causes of their own choosing that directly impact their community. This makes every donation especially meaningful, contributing to making a real impact at a local level, where it really matters," said Catherine Laporte, President of the RONA Foundation Board of Directors and Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at RONA inc.
Customers can support the campaign by making donations in-store or online at rona.ca. Donation options include $2, $5 or $10.
The RONA Foundation oversees the charitable activities of RONA inc., which operates and services more than 425 corporate and affiliated home improvement stores across Canada.
