The intersection of McKay Road and Huronia Road will fully close starting Monday, November 2, 2026, to allow for the installation of deep sanitary sewers. The intersection is expected to partially reopen in January 2027.

North and southbound traffic will be detoured via Huronia Road / Sideroad 10, Innisfil Beach Road, Yonge Street and Lockhart Road. East and westbound traffic will be detoured via Victoria Street, Yonge Street, Innisfil Beach Road, 5th Side Road / Veterans Drive to McKay Road West. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted signage.

The current closure of McKay Road East will be extended to October 31, 2027, to allow for sanitary sewer installation. The extension is due to a change in the construction schedule. Work at the Lockhart Road and Huronia Road intersection was completed first to help reduce traffic impacts, and that intersection reopened to traffic Thursday, October 29.

This work supports planned growth in south Barrie through the construction of new water and wastewater infrastructure.
