There has been a police takedown of suspects who were allegedly looking to sexually exploit children.

Dubbed Project Limestone, OPP said the four-day investigation in September resulted in 10 people being arrested and a total of 39 charges being laid.

Police said undercover officers pretending to be children accessed online chatrooms and social media apps in order to identify, locate and arrest individuals looking to sexually exploit children.

Six of the suspects were arrested when they showed up to a pre-set location to meet with investigators posing as kids.

In one circumstance, police said it took approximately an hour and a half from engaging online to the individual arriving at a location to meet with the undercover investigator pretending to be a child.

Some of the suspects arrived with toys, condoms and candy.

One of the accused is a repeat offender who was out on bail at the time of their arrest.

Nine of the suspects are from Ontario and one is from the United States.

Police in North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, York, Peel and Durham assisted with the investigation.
