Using the term "reboot" lightly, Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie is set to star in one of the two upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean films being produced by Disney.
Both films will be separate from the original franchise, sharing similarities in name only. That means no Jack Sparrow, Elizbeth Swann, William Turner, or Hector Barbossa will be returning to the screen and an all-new set of characters will be inhabiting the Pirates of the Caribbean universe.
While it is still very early in pre-production having only just hired a writer and has no director set to helm the project, it seems the one thing that is set in stone is for Margot Robbie to be portraying the main character, whoever that may be.
If filming gets back on schedule and the movie industry returns to a state of normality, we could see a brand new Pirates of the Caribbean film as early as the fourth quarter of 2021.
