While it wasn't a huge week for movie announcements, there were still a few trailers to get excited about this week. From a classic Disney character to a fresh new HBO series, here are a few we think you shouldn't miss:
Lightyear
Probably the biggest trailer of the week, Lightyear is a new film from Disney/Pixar exploring the inspiration behind everyone's favourite toy space-man. Chris Evans (Captain America) will be lending his voice to the role and the film will also be directed by Angus MacLane, an animator at Pixar and director of Finding Dory. MacLane, a long-time veteran of the company, has also worked on some of the most beloved animated films such as A Bug's Life, Up, The Incredibles, and several Toy Story movies. It looks like Lightyear is in good hands, and it's hitting theatres in summer 2022.
Tiger King 2
The documentary series that took the world by storm in 2020 is getting a sequel. Tiger King 2 will once again star Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, but this time around we're finding out how their lives have changed since the show first aired. The film will also see the return of the two creators of the first Tiger King series, Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin. If you haven't seen the original yet, we won't spoil it here. However, seeing as the new series is hitting Netflix on November 17th, now might be the perfect time to skip the new trailer and catch up!
The Wheel of Time
The Wheel of Time has had quite a bit of excitement building around it. People are hoping for it to be the "next Game of Thrones", something they'll squirm in their chairs to see the next episode of. While plot-wise, the two shows have far more differences than similarities, The Wheel of Time is shaping up to be another fantastic fantasy series to sink your teeth into. It's got a few big stars attached, is based on the best-selling book series, and is hitting Amazon Prime on November 19th.
Landscapers
While prequels, sequels, and adaptations are always fun, there's something even more exciting about a new original property (maybe because they're increasingly rare). If you can't get enough of British crime dramas like Happy Valley, Broadchurch, or Luther, Landscapers is here to gobble up more of your attention. The show stars David Thewlis and Olivia Colman and is inspired by a British couple who harboured gruesome and dark secrets. This 4-episode mini-series is set to hit Crave on December 6.
