The Coldest Night of the Year 2022 is here to help raise money for Simcoe County's only youth centre, Youth Haven.
This family-friendly walk allows you to join solo or with a team, to fundraise for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. This year, instead of asking donors to try and hit a specific dollar amount, they are encouraging everyone to "Get 5". With the average donation being around $50 if every walker can get 5 donors, Youth Haven will be well on their way to their goal of $60,000!
If you're wondering how to begin asking for donations from your friends, family, and coworkers, Youth Haven has three suggestions to help your get started:
- Fast & Effective: Write a short, personal fundraising email and send it to friends and family. Explain why you are walking and how their fundraising will help your community. Definitely be sure to include the link to your personal fundraising page where they can give and get receipted in minutes. Read some sample emails here.
- Slower (but still super effective): Print off a CNOY pledge form and go to your school/work/gym/church/social group and ask people face-to-face to support you. This undeniably takes a little bravery, and you know what? They'll know it, see your bravery, and reward it. Add those pledges to your Fundhub so your thermometer goes up too.
- Super Fast (but slightly less effective): While face-to-face is still the best way to get donations, it never hurts to just throw your Fundhub link up on your social media channels!
Another awesome way to add money to your fundraising pool is by checking the matching funds page. There are tons of companies who are offering to match employee donations, dollar for dollar, so just type in their name and see if you can double your fundraising efforts with just a few clicks!
The official walk date is still February 26, however, this year you can also walk any day of the month that works best for you.
