Nominations for the sixth annual Mayor’s Innovation Awards are now open. These awards celebrate the year’s most creative solutions from businesses, individuals and community groups in Barrie.

“The annual Mayor’s Innovation Awards allow us to shine a spotlight on the trailblazing and visionary projects taking place right here in Barrie,” said Mayor Alex Nuttall. “I look forward to celebrating the amazing stories of strength, creativity and adaptation happening in our community.”

Five awards will be returning in 2024, including Pivot Point, Creative Collaboration, Youth Innovator, Research & Innovation Contribution and Shift Disturber. The Municipal Innovation category that was introduced in 2023 will also be returning, showcasing the City of Barrie’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in public service.

Nominations are open to Barrie businesses, organizations, and individuals from all sectors, stages, and sizes. Nominations will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges from across the region and the province. Winners will be announced in November.

The deadline to submit a nomination is October 16, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

Sponsors for this year’s Mayor’s Innovation Awards include Adams Hamilton, Meridian Credit Union, Ain Whitehead LLP, and Innovative Automation.
