Skydive event raises $21,000 for Barrie Women and Children's Shelter

"Creating this event was my way of giving back to the community and helping an organization in great need."

Barrie entrepreneur, Dawn Mucci, recently gathered a few friends - Rock 95's Rachel Detta among them - to jump, not into the lake, but from a plane, to raise money for the cash-strapped Barrie Women and Children's Shelter.

One by one, dressed as superheroes, they jumped with the help of Skydive Wasaga Beach. Each jumper reached out to the community for donations.

"I am overwhelmed by the amount of support ... of the community, and wish to thank our sponsors and jumpers," said Mucci. "I am extremely pleased to have collectively raised over $21,000."

Mucci is planning another event for 2023 which will include kayaking for those who prefer not freefall from a plane.
