A man in his 30s was freed by Oro-Medonte firefighters after he was struck and trapped by a large tree limb while clearing debris on his property from the ice storm, according to Fire Chief Rory Payment.
In an email to Barrie 360, Payment said the call to Line 6 North came in at 1:15 Saturday afternoon.
The man was freed and transported to Barrie's hospital, where he was airlifted to a Toronto hospital, the fire chief added.
Earlier this week, a 78-year-old man died after being struck by a falling tree near Peterborough.
Officers said a witness told them the homeowner had asked for help in clearing trees damaged from the recent ice storm.
Police said the two were both experienced in tree removal and had already felled four or five trees before the last one came down, striking one of them.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
