On Saturday, August 2, the Barrie Sports Complex will host the eagerly anticipated Dirt in the Skirt 2025, an all-women's vintage-inspired slo-pitch tournament.
What is Dirt in the Skirt?
Dirt in the Skirt isn't just a tournament … it's a celebration of women's sports and community involvement. Organized by Silver Compass Consulting, this annual event brings together over 300 women athletes, local businesses, families, and fans for a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and charitable giving.

A unique sporting experience
The tournament features 12 teams inspired by the original AAGPBL (All-American Girls Professional Baseball League) and 12 new Canadian city-themed teams.
Each team sports customized vintage uniforms, paying homage to the trailblazing women of baseball while creating new traditions for today's players.
Playing for a purpose
Beyond sports, Dirt in the Skirt is committed to giving back.
This year, the event proudly supports Hospice Simcoe, an essential organization providing compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support in our community.
In 2024, the tournament raised $2,300 for Simcoe County CMHA, showcasing its dedication to local causes.
Event highlights
From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the Barrie Sports Complex will be alive with:
- Non-stop slo-pitch action across 8 diamonds, including main diamonds hosted by a DJ with customized walk-up songs for all participants.
- An exhibition game featuring the infamous Dotties Hotties versus an All-Star women's team.
- Competitive side games and player challenges with exciting prize opportunities.
- A vibrant pavilion offering food trucks, vendors, raffles, an artist zone, and a VIP lounge.
- Photo booths, team photos, live DJ entertainment, and professional photography capturing every moment.
- An awards ceremony and an epic after-party to celebrate the day's achievements.
