A Busy New Year’s Celebration for South Simcoe Police
Charges Laid On Either Side of the Big Countdown to Midnight
Some folks around Innisfil did not start 2019 on a good note.
South Simcoe Police say a 23-year-old woman is facing four assault-related charges after a call to an Innisfil home on January 1st. Officers arrived around 11:00 that morning to find a man claiming he had been assaulted by his common-law partner. She was released with a future court date.
Meanwhile, a 32-year-old Innisfil man will be in court to answer to a Mischief charge, after police claim he damaged property while fighting with his wife. It’s said he injured himself during the incident and was treated by paramedics at the police station.
A RIDE check in Innisfil December 31st resulted in a Barrie woman losing her licence for a few days. Police say she pulled up around 9:30 and police could smell booze in the vehicle. The 24-year-old took a breath test resulting in a warn-range suspension of three days.
Of the 345 vehicles stopped during South Simcoe Police spot checks in Innisfil and Bradford, one other was charged with driving under suspension, another had no insurance, while a charge of having cannabis readily available to a driver was also laid.
A very soggy RIDE program tonight! Huge shout out to the member of the community that brought coffee to the team. Thank you! #HappyNewYear to all. Please #DriveSafe #DriveSober! #FestiveRIDE pic.twitter.com/qhsl56d3Ze
