A Local Lager That Helps Raise Money for Charity

The Barrie Kempenfelt Rotary Club Launch Local Lager

The Barrie Kempenfelt Rotary Club officially launch their charity beer in Barrie Thursday.

Cicerones are beer experts. Think of a sommelier (wine experts who suggest the perfect chardonnay or pinot for your meal). A Cicerone knows about malt and hops. When describing beer they may use descriptors like “piney, zippy, lemony, aromatic, floral or pungent.” If a Cicerone were to describe a Local Lager, they would most likely use words like “refreshing and rewarding.”

Every Local Lager brew you buy helps fund rotary projects here and elsewhere around the globe. There are 33 Rotary Clubs taking part in the fundraiser, which will support the Kids Fishing Day, Colt For a Day event and Kempenfelt Derby.

You can pick up some of the beer at one of the 55 participating Beer Stores across Ontario. The event has raised $22,000 since its first batch was brewed two years ago. The Rotary Club is hosting a sampling Thursday February 28th at 10am, at the Barrie Country Club, 635 St. Vincent Street.
