Airbnb extends ‘party ban’ through at least the end of summer

Airbnb first announced its global ban on parties back in August of 2020

A ban on parties at Airbnb rentals has been extended through at least the end of the summer.

Airbnb Inc first announced its global ban on parties back in August of 2020, a move aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19.

“We want to be really good community players all over the world,” said CEO Brian Chesky.

The popular short-term rental platform says the policy, “has proven to be popular” with their host community.

Back in February of 2020, the company made a controversial announcement to “reduce instances of unauthorized parties” by banning guests under the age of 25 from booking entire homes here in Canada.

Spokesperson Chris Lehane said the changes meant those guests won’t be able to rent an “unhosted home” within a certain geographical distance of where they’re living.
