
An unnerving knock at the door for a north Barrie homeowner just after midnight on Thursday turned into pounding, according to police, with the front door being kicked open.
A man entered the residence, had a brief verbal interaction with the person inside and then fled.
He was last seen headed to toward the rear parking lot of the Georgian Mall.

Police say officers who arrived at the home received a detailed description of the suspect and located him in the area of Bayfield Street and Rose Street.
A 29-year-old from Barrie was charged with forcible entry, mischief under $5,000, and fail to comply with a probation order.
He was held for a bail hearing.
"The door that was kicked in sustained significant damage as did the door frame, and will likely need significant repairs or replacement," police said in a news release.
