Arrest made in string of LCBO thefts in Barrie

Suspect is facing 13 theft charges

Barrie police arrested a suspect on Tuesday in connection with a string of thefts from LCBO stores that began on Dec. 27, 2021. The suspect was nabbed, according to police, while he was allegedly committing another theft in the downtown area.

The 26-year-old accused, who is of no fixed address, is charged with 13 counts of theft under $5,000. He was held in custody and is to appear for a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Police say the suspect targeted LCBO locations on Big Bay Point Rd., Bayfield St. and on Mary St. More than $1,300 worth of alcohol was stolen from these stores.

Investigators say the man tried to stay one step ahead of police, changing his jackets from green, to blue and then finally to red, as video was released, and he was nabbed Tuesday morning on Dunlop St. following another reported theft.
