A person remotely monitoring a residence thought they heard voices from within the home and contacted Barrie police.
Officers arrived at the residence in the area of Essa Road and Loggers Run around three this morning about a possible break and enter.
They determined that the noise from within the home was coming from a television that had been left on with a live stream playing to provide conversational background noise.
In a media release on Thursday, police said if you are going to leave a radio or television on in order to provide some background noise, don't forget to tell the person who is taking care of your home that you have done this.
