Barrie Fire is marking a significant birthday this year.
Those in the know were at a special flag raising at City Hall Monday, to help Barrie Fire celebrate 175 years. Originally organized in 1844, a special crest was designed for Barrie Fire to mark the occasion. A flag bearing that crest was raised Monday afternoon.
“I’m very proud of our history, our staff and how our community has supported Barrie Fire over the years,” says Barrie Fire Chief Cory Mainprize. “We’ve come a long way since the mid-1800s—we now have five fire stations, a fleet of 30 vehicles and modern equipment to help keep Barrie safe. The one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is our core mission: to protect lives, well-being and property in the city.”
To mark the occasion, Barrie Fire is asking residents of the City to visit its Share Your Story page, and let everyone know how you were helped by Barrie Fire and Emergency Service in the past.
