Those in the know are knocking some would be pot-shops out of contention, including the ones slated for Barrie and Innisfil.
The one location proposed for Collier St. in Barrie and all three of Innisfil’ Commerce Park Drive hopefuls were crossed off the list by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for not having all the paperwork in place.
Applicants were given five days to provide documentation to the AGCO, including thousands in fees a fifty grand letter of credit, and cites this rule as the reason why the Barrie and Innisfil locations didn’t make the cut. Another location in Barrie was brought up from the wait list, but wasn’t able to provide other required documentation to the AGCO, and Expression of Interest application.
There still could be a cannabis store coming to Barrie, with a proposed location on Essa Rd. coming off the wait list, and will have to go through the same rigamarole. Two Barrie locations and one in Innisfil remain on the wait list.
Of the 42 originally selected in the provincial lottery, only 29 applicants were up to snuff, including the proposed location in Collingwood.
