A 21-year-old Barrie man has been charged by city cops following an online child pornography investigation.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, and during the arrest, police seized a computer device.
The investigation began in December 2021, when police say investigators received an online tip concerning the uploading of child pornography via Instagram.
"The investigation led to several production orders and the execution of a search warrant, where two computer devices were seized for forensic analysis," police said in a news release on Tuesday. "Forensics were completed and the categorization resulted in the discovery of 60+ images of child pornography."
The suspect has been charged with accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
He was remanded in custody and held for bail.
