Barrie man charged in child porn investigation

The suspect allegedly communicated with a youngster in the U.S.

A Barrie man has been arrested following a seven-month investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE).

The 50-year-old has been charged with luring and making child pornography.

Police allege the suspect used social media websites Fortnite and TikTok to communicate with an 11-year-old living in the United States. It’s alleged he exploited the victim and engaged in an explicit chat. The man was held for a bail hearing and later released on a recognizance with several conditions and a future court date.

The suspect was not identified by police.
