A Barrie man has been arrested and charged in connection with an online luring investigation that police say involved a 12-year-old girl.

Police say they began an investigation in September after receiving information from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) via the Montreal Police concerning an online luring investigation involving a child and a 66-year-old man who lived in Barrie.

On Wednesday, Barrie police executed a search warrant at the suspect's home and arrested the accused.

He has been charged with the following:

  • luring a child
  • making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • making child pornography

The man was held for a bail hearing and was remanded in custody.
