Barrie Police on the hunt for two suspects after downtown attack Friday night

Two suspects sought

Barrie Police are searching for two suspects following a violent mugging in downtown Barrie.

A police spokesperson confirmed a woman was robbed of her purse, shoes, and coat, near Dunlop and Owen Streets. The incident happened around 10:30 Friday evening and may have involved an edged weapon. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening head wound but didn’t get a good look at the weapon used. Her injury did require hospitalization.

One suspect is described as a man, about 5’8″ in height, wearing a dark hoodie and a mask. The other is described as an Indigenous woman, about 5’4″, heavier build, wearing a light-coloured hoodie. Police say she was wearing a mask but removed it briefly, showing many of her teeth were spaced apart further than average.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Barrie Police Service at (705)725-7025 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS.
