It's an incredible feat for a radio station to be on the air for 30 years, and it's an accomplishment worth celebrating. Rock 95 celebrates their birthday every year with the annual Rock 95 Birthday Bash but this year was extra special, as they marked 30 years of rocking the airwaves in Central Ontario.
Rock 95 was born in 1988 when Doug Bingley had a vision to bring a Rock station to Central Ontario. Critics told him the station would never work, but Bingley believed there was an appetite for great rock music and time has proven that he was right.

At the heart of Rock 95's success is its care for the people who tune in each and every day - the listeners.
That commitment was on display in full force on Saturday night at the Birthday Bash. Every year, the station throws "Central Ontario's biggest party" and their 30th was arguably the biggest yet. Rock 95 gave away over $400,000 in prizes, including 30 trips to the Caribbean, jewellery, stand up paddle boards, a trip to Ireland to see Elton John - heck, they even handed out 800 cheeseburgers! The night's grand prize winner was Lori Magee, who went home with $30,000 in cash.
The party is a win-your-way in event, so just being there is a prize in itself. For those that don't go home with a prize, it's still a pretty great night. Rock 95 pulls out all the stops, bringing in big-name musical acts to rock the stage. On Saturday night Colin James and Our Lady Peace put on an incredible show for everyone at Mavrick's Music Hall
Happy birthday, Rock 95! Cheers to 30 years!
