Barrie waste collection to begin at 5:30 in the morning whenever a heat warning is declared

Keep an eye on the Barrie 360 Storm watch page for info on heat warnings

The City of Barrie is introducing a new schedule to help the garbage man beat the heat.

Barrie City Hall says when heat warnings are declared in the area, the city’s waste contractor will begin curbside collection at 5:30 a.m. Residents are asked to take their waste to the curb the evening before, no earlier than 7 p.m. or very early in the morning.

The City of Barrie will post notification of early curbside collection start times the afternoon prior, on its Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Barrie 360 posts any weather watch, warning, or alert, including heat warnings, to its Storm Watch page whenever one is issued by Environment Canada. Up-to-date information is also posted to the Barrie 360 Traffic and Weather Twitter feed.
