Barrie’s Dog Off-Leash Recreation Areas

Let Them Feel The Wind In Their Fur

DOLRAs are areas set aside to allow dog owners to let their pets exercise and socialize in a protected environment without the fear of breaking any municipal by-laws.

The first DOLRA is located at 555 Bayview drive and offers 3 distinct areas for you to choose from, appropriate for your dog. There are two fenced-in areas, one for small dogs under 30 pounds (.25 acres) and one for all other dogs (1.8 acres), along with an unsecured natural area that has perimeter fencing but has gaps under the fence line, overland waterflows, and movement from small animals.

The second area, which is located at 227 Sunnidale Road, will be closed until early summer next year to construct a pair of bridges that will allow access across Kidd’s Creek.

Full details about the DOLRAs and the ongoing construction can be found here.
