Barrie’s École élémentaire La Source getting over three dozen childcare spaces

Construction expected to wrap up in time for September 2022

A French-speaking school in Barrie’s south end is getting a lot more childcare spaces.

École élémentaire La Source on Barrie’s Mapleview Road has already begun construction on a childcare centre. It is expected this new addition will provide 39 new licensed childcare spaces, two new childcare rooms, and one new EarlyON Child and Family Centre room.

While construction has already begun, the school points out a $2.8 million contribution from the provincial government will help go a long way. “Thanks to the support of the Ontario government, we will continue to offer more services to families in our territory who want their young people to wake up, grow up and play in a totally French-speaking secular environment,” said Sylvie A. Landry, President of Viamonde Council which oversees La Source. “These services are essential to our community.”

The new childcare centre is expected to be ready by September 2022.
