After a successful Kickstarter campaign, a local educator has seen her children's book hit the press and is ready to share it with the community.
Angela Odusanya, author of "Amelia's Loose Part Art," is launching her book in Barrie on November 18, filled with kids' activities to spark the imagination.
The book is about Amelia, a little girl who loves to paint but discovers that the world around her can be used as art after being found without her traditional tools.
Odusanya explains, " Amelia finds buttons and pins and feathers to use for her art project. Soon, she travels outside and creates all these wonderful art pieces based on finding loose parts and being creative."
Since launching her Kickstarter campaign last summer, Odusanya says they raised $10,000 to prepare the book and had some early releases.
"The teacher unions have been extremely interested," Odusanya says. "Some teachers have had the opportunity to bring it to classrooms early. And I'm hearing that children immediately want to engage in this art form, and their creativity is improving immediately."

In celebration of the launch, Odusanya says they have some creative ideas for this week's event, including an exploration station filled with loose parts.
"Even adults can get involved," she says. "I'm picturing it like a paint night, and everyone would sit and be creative together, except, in this situation, you don't have to follow instructions; you can explore and create what's in your heart."
There will also be refreshments, photo opportunities, copies of the book for sale, and much more.
The event runs on Saturday, November 18, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at William's Café, 501 Bryne Dr, in Barrie.
